Winter Trading Analyst

Located: Princeton, NJ | Full-Time

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Winter Trading Analyst Intern to join our Energy Trading team. As a Trading Analyst intern, you will work closely with experienced traders and analysts to support daily trading activities, market analysis, and data-driven decision-making.


 

  • Start Date:  January 12, 2026
  • Duration: 10 weeks for full-time (Ending on March 20, 2026), or 15 weeks for part-time
    (ending May 1, 2026)

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Data Management: Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from diverse sources (market data, weather reports, grid conditions, production schedules) to inform trading decisions. 
    • Market Analysis: Monitor real-time power market activity, analyze price dynamics, and identify key supply-demand and transmission factors impacting market behavior. 
    • Trading Support: Assist traders in executing strategies across energy markets; track positions, exposure, and performance. 
    • Research: Conduct fundamental and quantitative analyses of power markets, including price forecasting, congestion trends, and regulatory or policy impacts. 
    • Reporting & Insights: Prepare daily and weekly reports summarizing market developments, portfolio performance, and trading opportunities. 
    • Collaboration: Partner with traders, risk management, and operations teams to improve analytical workflows and trading efficiency. 
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Academic: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in a STEM field, Economics/Financial Economics, Finance, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related discipline.  
    • Skills: Strong market, fundamental and quantitative analytical skills; proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar analytical tools. 
    • Interest in Energy Markets: Passion for electricity markets, renewable energy trends, and trading strategies. 
    • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize complex data clearly. 
    • Teamwork: Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced trading environment.
